Dr Greg Blecher MB BCh, FRACP, Grad Cert (University of Sydney)

Sleep Medicine
Dr Greg Blecher is a consultant specialist in Paediatric Sleep Medicine. He did his medical degree in South Africa. He trained in London and in Sydney. He is a Staff Specialist at Sydney Children’s Hospital and VMO at Liverpool Hospital. He specialises in children with sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnoea, restless leg syndrome, night terrors and difficulties sleeping.
His patients have access to sleep studies at Sydney Children’s Hospital, St George’s Private Hospital (Kogarah) and St Lukes Hospital (Potts Point).
Professor Adam Jaffé BSc (Hons), MBBS, MD, FRCP, FRCPCH, FRACP

Respiratory Medicine
Dr Adam Jaffé is a Paediatric Respiratory Consultant. He is Head of the Respiratory Department at Sydney Children’s Hospital and a conjoint appointee Professor at the University of New South Wales. He trained in London and in Sydney and was consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children for 5 years before returning to Sydney.
He specializes in children who have chest problems such as cough, asthma and chest infections. He has published over 100 research papers on children with lung disease.
He is chairman of the NSW Department of Health, Aiming for Asthma Improvement in Children Program.
His patients have access to one of the best respiratory diagnostic laboratories in the world at Sydney Children’s Hospital. He is an acknowledged expert in flexible bronchoscopy.
Dr Brynn Wainstein MBBS, PhD, FRACP

Allergy and Immunology
Dr Brynn Wainstein is a consultant specialist in Paediatric Allergy and Immunology. He is a Staff Specialist in the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. Brynn has a PhD on peanut allergy in children.
Brynn has expertise in many paediatric allergic and immunologic conditions with a particular interest in food allergy. His other interests include allergic conditions such as eczema, allergic rhinitis, asthma, recurrent hives and insect sting allergy. In addition Brynn is a specialist in the investigation and management of children with primary immunodeficiencies and recurrent infections. Services available include allergy skin testing and desensitisation (Immunotherapy).
Food challenge procedures will also be available in conjunction with the Immunology Department at Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Dr Preeti Joshi MBBS (Hons), DCH, FRACP, PhD

Allergy and Immunology
Dr Preeti Joshi is a consultant specialist in Paediatric Allergy and Immunology.
She is a Staff Specialist at the Department of Allergy and Immunology at The Children’s Hospital, Westmead. Preeti graduated with honours from the University of Sydney in 1990 before completing her specialist training in paediatrics. She was awarded her fellowship in 1997. She then completed a PhD in the development of allergy in children before working in New York with Professor Hugh Sampson, a world expert in food allergy. Preeti has an active role in teaching and research in addition to running a busy practice in clinical allergy and immunology. Her special interest includes paediatric food allergy, eczema and allergic rhinitis. She has wide experience in the management of many allergic and immunologic conditions in children. Preeti has recently co–authored and published a book for parents and carers entitled “Managing your child’s food allergies” (Harper Collins 2009).
Dr Simon Cohen BSc, MBChB, MRCPCH, FRACP

Pain Medicine
Dr Simon Cohen is a paediatrician with an interest in Pain Medicine. Simon Cohen qualified in the UK in 1995 and has been a children’s doctor for over 14 years dealing with new born babies to 16 year old children.
As a consultant Paediatrician with a wealth of experience in the UK and Australia, he is able to deal with all aspects of a child's health, development and general wellbeing. He has an understanding of the difficulties and challenges of looking after a child with chronic pain and how this can impact on the family. By combining the latest in pain medicine knowledge and careful use of medications with a broader, holistic approach he aims to improve the function and quality of life of a child who has chronic pain.
Dr Shubha Srinivasan BSc( Med), MBBS (Hons), PhD, MRCP, FRACP

Endocrinology
Dr Shubha Srinivasan is a consultant specialist in Paediatric Endocrinology. She is a Staff Specialist at the Institute of Endocrinology and Diabetes at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Shubha graduated from the University of NSW and did her general paediatric training in the UK. She then trained in paediatric endocrinology at Sydney Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Her PhD was on insulin resistance and features of the metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents. She continues to participate in clinical research projects including insulin resistance, growth hormone therapy and rare forms of diabetes and has an active role in teaching and mentoring paediatric endocrine trainees.
Shubha’s clinical areas of expertise and interest include growth, puberty, thyroid, lipid and adrenal disorders. Her patients have access to specialised endocrine testing at Sydney Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Dr Sean Kennedy MBBS, PhD, FRACP

Renal Medicine
Dr Sean Kennedy is a paediatric nephrologist at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales where he is an active researcher and teacher.
His PhD investigated the role of inflammation in acute kidney disease. He is experienced in all facets of renal medicine including the management and investigation of urinary tract infection, hydronephrosis, kidney impairment, electrolyte disturbances, haematuria and proteinuria.He has a special interest in the management of children with high blood pressure. He sees patients with kidney disease across the whole spectrum of paediatrics, from babies to adolescents.
Dr Vincent Varjavandi MB BS, FRACS
Surgery
Dr Vincent Varjavandi is a Staff Specialist in paediatric surgery at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick. He graduated from Flinders University, South Australia in 1992 and completed his Paediatric Surgical training in 2000. He spent a year as the laparoscopic (key hole) fellow at the New England Centre in Boston, USA. He specialises in all areas of paediatric surgery, including minimally invasive abdominal and thoracic surgery.
