
A/Professor Keith Chee Y. Ooi
A/Professor Keith Ooi is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. He specializes in all aspects of gastrointestinal, pancreatic, nutritional and liver conditions.
He graduated from the University of Melbourne with the Clara Myers Prize in Paediatrics and started his gastroenterology training in Sydney Children’s Hospital. He further trained and also worked as a Consultant at the world renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada during which time he received various international and national awards in both the clinical and research arenas. On return to Sydney, he was awarded a PhD for his contributions to research in cystic fibrosis and pancreatic diseases and also received the Dean’s Rising Star Award (UNSW Medicine).
A/Professor Ooi is a world leading expert in all things related to the gut in cystic fibrosis as well as childhood pancreatic diseases. He has >150 publications, including in the most prestigious journals in the fields of gastroenterology (e.g. Gastroenterology), cystic fibrosis (e.g. Thorax, Chest) and paediatrics (e.g. Pediatrics, JAMA Peds). He has received >AUD 7 million as chief investigator in research funding, and regularly presents at prestigious international and national conferences.
He is also an innovator in technology-driven medical education.
